Creative Destruction

Creative destruction is an economic concept. The idea when applied to business is a new industry kills an older one (e.g. the internet and newspapers). The interesting thing about creative destruction is it occurs all throughout nature and our lives.

Some examples:

  • Forest Fires
    • Secondary forests are often stronger and healthier then the old ones they replaced
  • Supernova
    • Disperses the material necessary to build new stars
  • Building muscle
    • Lifting creates microtears in muscle fibers, which then regenerate bigger and stronger

Even though this is an economic concept, the applications are everywhere.
